The Tilbury Hotel

The Tilbury Hotel

The look: There’s a smart urban look, with deep tan leather ottomans and matching chairs in the upstairs cocktail bar. Two fireplaces and heaters along the terrace awnings will keep you cosy. Downstairs there’s a stylish public bar, café and restaurant.
The soundtrack: DJs spin a mix of old school and modern tunes from Thursdays to Sundays. The record label Future Classics lays the perfect cutting edge soundtrack from 4pm Sundays, with a live saxophonist or guitarist, just to keep things interesting.
Signature drink: Louie’s Remedy ($10) is only served on Sundays. It’s the Tilbury tonic for late weekend sessions: rum, Campari and pineapple juice is topped up with refreshing lemonade.
Bar snacks: The most delicious marinated chicken burger you’ll ever taste for seven bucks. Alternatively try the grilled prawn skewers ($14) or a plate of dips served with char chilled Turkish bread ($12.50).
The wow factor: Its cool charm and celeb spotting potential due to its location just steps away from the trendy Woolloomooloo wharf.
Best for: Hip young things; groups of mates and casual dates.
TV show vibe: Cheers meets Sex & The City.
