Why should I go? It’s stylish yet cheap, with a trendy lounge atmosphere.
Where do I find it? In the CBD – walking distance from Martin Place.
Upstairs: There’s sultry lighting for a romantic rendezvous and room to move on the plush ottoman in the newly renovated Onyx Bar.
Downstairs: Bar Below is a private bar that caters for 35 people, with a VIP entrance for Paris Hilton wannabes.
After 10pm? Tired suits retire and the venue transforms into a busy R&B club on Friday and Saturday nights ($10 cover charge from Thursday to Saturday).
I’m thirsty: Try the signature drink Long Island Iced Tea ($12) or visit during happy hour (5pm–6pm) for $3 beers and $3.50 spirits.
Bar bites: include good nibblies plus a cheap lunch menu (steak sandwich, $9).
The soundtrack: Fresh, funky and pumping hard into the wee hours.
Best for: city date nights or happy hour drinks with broke work mates.
