The look: A signature blood red fills this intimate two-story wine bar and restaurant from their armchairs to the rouge coloured doors. Sandstone walls top off the look to create a hip inner-city venue reminiscent of understated yet cool New York and London bars.
The soundtrack: A pleasing mix of funk infused with sophisticated new jazz is served up as subtle background music.
Signature drink: Ole! The El Matador ($17) – an original cocktail creation made with mint, tequila, lemon curd, and peach puree - with a refreshing zing.
On the menu: The bar menu downstairs consists of four bite sized serves of the larger portion modern European restaurant menu available upstairs. How does cinnamon cured ocean trout ($14) sound?
The wow factor: An impressive personalised cocktail list from bar manager extraordinaire Julian Serna.
Best for: Going with pals you already know well or want to get to know better.
