Different Drummer
I’m seeking a Spanish experience... Well, this lively
cocktail and tapas bar is just like something you’d stumble on down a Barcelona back street.
What’s
the look? Rustic brick walls, warm red lighting, polished dark wood tables.
There are hanging plants in the covered courtyard and a spiral staircase to a
quieter, casual dining area upstairs.
Who’s hanging out here? Backpackers,
locals, uni students – it’s a real mix.
What’s to drink? Cocktail happy hour is
held daily from 6pm-7.30pm. The bar staff mix a mean Margarita and the
Raspberry Beret’s not bad either. Jugs of sangria are $28.
I’m hungry! Try the
tapas – the spring rolls and prawn wontons go down a treat, as does the
delicate tortilla ($10 each). If you’re feeling decadent, order the eye fillet
with blue cheese vodka sauce ($18) – it’s pretty special.
How’s the music? It’s
a party vibe all the way, with cool jazz and funky latino beats.
Wow factor?
You’ve got to love the old-style arcade games machine tucked in a corner,
complete with Pacman!
