Aperitif

Sounds like just the place to whet my appetite. You know it. But be prepared to share - that’s what this sexy French/Moroccan den deep in Sydney’s red light district is all about.
What’s the look? Dark floorboards, decorative screens and red banquettes. A cosy fire and tables for two greet you at the front, which leads to a mirrored hallway of booths and back bar.
I’d love a late dinner. Lucky you, it’s served until the wee hours here. Snack on Oysters with Chorizo ($7) or share the Paella ($48) with a pal. Also well worth a nibble are tapas-style plates such as the Seared Sea Scallops with Imam Bayildi ($15) and Onion Tart with Roquefort and Almonds ($15).
I’m parched. Check out the drinks menu – it boasts wines from all over Europe. The champagne cocktails ($12) go down a treat, too
Who’s hanging out here? Foodies, winemakers, couples and the classier breed of partygoer. Saturdays are busiest if you’re bar-hopping.
What’s the vibe? Smooth jazz all the way.
The wow factor? The lighting – it’s understated but cool, from the glowing candelabras to the tea lights twinkling in Moroccan glasses.
